Georgia on my Mind

We’ve been in Georgia now since Sunday.  I’ll be staying at the Chattahoochee Bend State Park until next Thursday, a total of 11 days.  Thought I would make an additional post before the Pet Friendly Report is due. I am starting to really fall in love with the state parks we’ve been staying at. This one is no exception.

So far, we’ve hiked many of the trails, driven into town once, and just had a really nice quiet time. The park is on 2900 acres and has many hiking trails throughout. It’s the kind of place where you would park your car at the trailhead and spend the whole day out. There is also a place to launch your water craft in the river and it looks like there’d be some really good fishing.

The “Friends of Chattahoochee Bend” is the group that maintains the trails and they do an excellent job. We’ve really been enjoying our walks and go out 2 or 3 times a day for 30 minute or longer mini hikes.

UPDATE
John Muir, Walt Whitman, Laura Ingalls Wilder…I find my perceptions and attitudes are changing as I spend more time at state campgrounds and away from civilization, often with limited internet and virtually no tv. Come to think of it, I now camp full time. How many people can say that? However, I would be terrible surviving in the wild or boondocking. I’ve been here for 7 days now and hiking the trails 2x a day and I still get lost every time. Thank goodness for the occasional sign post. I’m used to going down a trail and coming back but this state park has a myriad of trails all intersecting in 2900 acres! Potty walk with the dogs this morning ended up being a 1 hour hike. Lol.
